Are you ready for the most exciting week in equestrian sports? Held every four years in the middle of the Olympic Games cycle is The FEI World Equestrian Games™ . It is one of the biggest events in sports, combining eight equestrian World Championship caliber events in a pre-determined location. The following FEI disciplines are included in the World Equestrian Games: Showjumping, Dressage, Para-Equestrian Dressage, Eventing, Driving, Endurance, Vaulting, and Reining. The 2018 FEI World Equestrian Games is held in Mill Spring, NC over thirteen days from September 11-23 at the Tryon International Equestrian Center.
Over 500,000 spectators will watch the biggest names in equestrian sports compete for the prestigious winnings in 8 different equestrian disciplines. Located near the city of Asheville, Tryon Equestrian Center is close to first-class shopping, dining, golfing, and entertainment. At this year’s opening ceremonies event, five-time Grammy award nominee country singer and artist, Hunter Hayes, will be performing at the games. “We are honored to bring our community together here for the WEG to celebrate their good fortune and expose a broader generation to equestrian sport,” said Mark Bellissimo of Tryon Equestrian Center.
One of the most exciting events we enjoy watching is the Vaulting competition. Watching the grace and flexibility of both rider and horse is simply amazing. Watching the vaulting sport is almost like watching acrobatics or gymnastics on horseback!
While we all enjoy riding and competing with our own horses, the World Equestrian Games is one of those events that inspires not only the competitive equestrian, but also those who love horses as pets and enjoy watching these powerful animals perform in front of thousands.
