“My Little Pony” Is Mother-Daughter Fun

My Little Pony: The Movie

Going to the barn can be the ultimate bonding experience for mother and daughter. Between the highs of learning new skills  — be it a 20-meter circle or enduring confidence — and the challenges of hard work (and cantankerous  ponies), it’s a unique experience that’s sure to strengthen any mother-daughter duo’s relationship. If that’s out of the cards, the second best thing is catching a horse-related flick at your local movie theater. Lucky for you, My Little Pony: The Movie is coming to the big screen this October.

Inspiring for Girls

My Little Pony follows Twilight Sparkle and her friends, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rarity and Spike. The herd — known as the “Mane 6” — embark on a journey far from home to stop a threat to the land of Equestria. Along the way, they meet new friends and overcome challenges. It’s an inspiring story for any little girl, horse loving or not!

Fun for Mom

And there’s fun for mom, too. In addition to the regular cast that voiced the series, the film reportedly features a great roster of actors including Emily Blunt, Kristin Chenoweth, Liev Schreiber, Michael Peña, Sia, Taye Diggs, Uzo Aduba and Zoe Saldana. See if you can recognize A-listers like Emily Blunt (The Girl on the Train) or Zoe Saldana (Guardians of the Galaxy) without seeing their faces!

Notably, “Chandelier” chanteuse Sia will play the voice of Songbird Serenade, a famous pegasus pop star. The character itself is modeled after the pop star’s persona and famously face-covering wigs. Meanwhile the villain, the ominously-named Storm King, will be played by Live Schreiber. Emily Blunt takes on the role of the Storm King’s second-in-command, Tempest Shadow.
